Werner Danzeisen's farm in Eichstetten, in the Upper-Rhine region, has been organic since the 1950s. Thirty years ago, the motivated farmer was one of the first in Germany to start growing soya beans in addition to vegetables and grains. Another focus became seed production. The optimal technical equipment at his farm along with the favorable climate in the Kaiserstuhl region made – and continue to make – it possible to multiplicate challenging varieties of bean and vegetable seeds.
Werner's wife has been preparing edamame for the family for years. In the beginning, tofu soya beans from Taifun contract farming were used for this. The Danzeisen family accepted the challenge of producing original edamame seed varieties for Gartensoja as contract farmers without hesitation. Thanks to considerable investments in new technology and close cooperation over the years, they have achieved very high-quality seeds.
